WHAT IS THE FAN MISERY INDEX?

We’ve created a method that calculates a Fan Misery Index (FMI) based on relative strengths of a unique set of statistics and opinions. The FMI is conceptually similar to the S&P 500 Index – it’s a value between 0 and 10 where 0 indicates bliss and 10 represents the ultimate misery that you as a fan could ever envision. The FMI is calculated daily throughout the season, and off-season. This app has you dialed in to all your favorite teams.

STATISTICS

Have you ever seen something happen on the field, court or rink that really excites or aggravates you? FMI statistics capture these “fan moments” – displayed in the App with detail and perspective relative to historical ranges from poor to excellent symbolized with a weather symbol (from sunny to cloudy) to help you visualize where your team stands. Drill right down into details for each statistic including an explanation of how the stat is used in the FMI calculation. Statistics are updated after each game during the season.

FAN OPINIONS

The opinions featured in Fan Misery offer perspective on elements of the team/organization/players that matter to you as a fan. What is your historical level of pain/despair? Has the team lost its mojo? What is the probability that your team will win it all? What is the level of buzz around your team? You are the fan – you vote on opinions within the App and determine their value within the FMI, updated daily throughout the year.
